A day hike at Mount Rainier National Park

Today, James and I got to go to Mount Rainier NP by ourselves while our friend Diana took Milo for the day. (thanks Diana!) This time we went to the north-east side of the mountain, which was a new part for me. We took a supposed 4.5 mile, 3 hour hike on the Naches loop trail.. it turned out to not quite be the challenge we were expecting (though incredibly beautiful nonetheless.) We were more than halfway after less than an hour, so could have had alot more rest stops and taken in more of the stunning scenery along the way.
The first half of the walk had that silence that you can only experience high up in the mountains, and the smell of wild flowers was strong. There were many butterflies, birds and chipmunks keeping us company as we walked, along with soaring hawks. It was refreshing to get out into the wilderness for the day.
